Italy is a country very close to my heart. It was my first real international travel experience, and one I did alone as a study abroad student. What I learned about myself, about the country, cultures, people and cuisine made a lasting impression.
Italy is divided into 20 regions and I’ve been to 15 of them. One of my favourites is the Campagna Region where I’ve enjoyed the many towns and villages along the Amalfi Coast. Another area I absolutely love is Sicily, which is a world unto itself. Read about where to situate yourself to have the best experience to visit the Aeolian Islands and what you absolutely must see and do in Catania for a few days. If you are thinking of visiting Taormina: How to get there and when to visit is a great article to provide the pros and cons. Taormina a beautiful town as long as you know when to go and what to see. But I can’t recommend highly enough taking a Sicilian Cooking Class, which I found in Taormina. The foods of Italy are a trip all by themselves. I should probably post an, ‘Eat your way around Italy’ article soon!
